7-Day Swamps and Savanna

7 Days

Dive into Lewa’s swampy savannah paradise, with its abundance of animals, including a unique rhino population. The conservancy is vital for Kenya’s conservation efforts and the pretty landscapes of gently undulating hills, savannah and patches of swampy papyrus hide an abundance of animals. Head to the Masai Mara for a dose of big game spotting, where endless plains meet endless skies; and where the wildebeest of the Great Migration plunge furiously across the Mara River in their annual trek.

You'll be collected from the airport (or hotel).

Accommodation before the tour starts can be arranged for an extra cost.

You will be met at the airport and transferred by charter flight to your first lodge: Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Sprawled across 65,000 acres of Laikipia wilderness, it is top of many people's game reserve wish list for its legendary wildlife viewing. With more than 70 recorded mammal species, the conservancy is home to lion, leopard and jackal, the largest concentration of Grevy’s zebra in the world, black and white rhino, and too many bird species to list. To the south rises snow-capped Mount Kenya, to the North are the arid lands of Tassia and Il Ngwesi. Between them lie areas of pristine forest, fertile grasslands, extensive springs and acacia woodland. Game drives and walking safaris are always successful. Lewa also offers evening horse rides, which let you get close to the plains game, as long as you're an experienced rider. If not, rock onto a camel instead! Your mount may be less elegant, but it's a perfect way to see the action. The camels are led by Samburu handlers.

Main Destination: Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (Laikipia)

Accommodation: Lewa Safari Camp

Meals & Drinks: All meals included

All drinks (Premium wines & liquors might be excluded)

You will be transferred by air to Elephant Pepper Camp in the Masai Mara. Devoid of imposing buildings and large groups, this camp opened its canvas tents more than 20 years ago as one of the original camps in the Mara North Conservancy and remain true to their principles: it's about the wildlife. Without compromising on luxury, you'll spend evenings around the campfire and long days enveloped in the savanna. Far removed from the other lodges, this is the true heart of Kenya. Some of the rangers have been at Elephant Pepper Camp since its beginning with stories to share around every corner. The open-sided vehicles are fitted with camera stands and plug fittings, ensuring the perfect shot is never missed. Guided walks bring you closer to the bush to discover animal tracks, flowers and micro-ecosystems. Walks for kids are also available. Visit the Masai village to get a feel of how the people of the Kenyan bush live.

Main Destination: Masai Mara National Reserve

Accommodation: Elephant Pepper Camp

Meals & Drinks: All meals included

All drinks (Premium wines & liquors might be excluded)
