This park contains both forest and swamp vegetation. It is dominated by tall bull-rushes and sedges, bordered by open grasslands and riverine forests. It hosts the endangered Sitatunga antelope along with otter, genet cat, serval cat, mongoose, bushbuck, monkeys as well as a rich birdlife of about 372 species.
